Laptop grading guide
Grade A - Excellent Condition
Housing
- Minimal signs of using on the sides, bottom or other less noticeable areas.
- Minor chips and scratches on the sides or bottom of the housing.
- One micro dent in a less noticeable area (bottom part, sides).
Screen
- No deep scratches.
- A few light lines in the middle or clusters of light lines around the edges of the screen. Usually visible only at certain angles and lighting.
- No white spots or similar imperfections (lines, discoloration, dead pixels, point lights) when the screen is turned on.
Grade B - Good Condition
Housing
- Regularly used, with visible signs of using, but no deep scratches. Otherwise, the housing is in good condition.
- Several minor bumps and dents on the top or bottom.
- No bending of the housing.
- Satisfactory appearance after removing protective stickers (and other stickers).
- Minor cracks in the plastic parts on the sides.
- Keys must be clean, but dirt may be present between the keys.
Screen
- Minor brighter spots.
- Light keycap marks on the screen (cap corners more visible).
- No deep scratches, but lines on the LCD are allowed.
- Looks generally good from arm's length.
- Small, faint spots are allowed. 1-2 dead pixels are allowed.
Grade C - Fair Condition
Housing
- Used laptop with noticeable using, but still functional.
- Slightly bent housing is allowed.
- Cracks, strong signs of removing protective stickers or scratched stickers are allowed.
- Traces of glue are allowed.
- Missing feet.
- Screws may be missing if the bottom part of the housing stays in place.
- Bent corners are allowed if they do not affect opening/closing the lid.
- Engraved/scratched text may be present.
Screen
- Screens with noticeable using.
- Light keycap marks on the screen (cap corners more visible).
- Scratches on the screen.
- Discoloration may occur when the screen is turned on.
- Acceptable dust in the corners and sides.
- Dead pixels on the screen. Dark spots.
Grade D - For Parts
- Laptop for parts, may be missing housing elements, screen, or keyboard.
